COVID PROTOCOLS

Dodgeville School District's
COVID-19 Protocols for the 2021-22 School Year

As we excitedly anticipate the start of a new school year, I write this letter to update you on the COVID-19 protocols for the upcoming school year. During the summer, the administrative team engaged in important discussions regarding what COVID-19 protocols were needed for the upcoming school year. The discussion consistently returned to three main topics:

● The importance of returning to in-person learning
● The importance of remaining in in-person learning
● The importance of keeping the students and staff safe

This past May, families in the Dodgeville School District were asked to choose a learning model for their children for the upcoming school year. Nearly 95% of the families who responded wanted their children back in school for in-person instruction. That compares to 67% at this time last year. The results of the survey was a clear indicator that the administration and school board need to find a way to get students in school and keep them there, uninterrupted.

In order to make this a reality, we must first and foremost keep students and staff safe. We must do our best to keep them from being exposed to the virus when in the building and from having to isolate at home whenever possible. By doing so, we give ourselves the best chance to provide students a school year that is closer to normal.

For parents who are not quite ready to send their children back to school, we are offering a fully virtual option. The format is not the same as last year. If you are considering virtual learning, please contact Bryan Brom at bbrom@draschools.org no later than Friday, August 20. He will assist you in determining if the virtual learning model is right for your family.

Attached to this letter is an infographic detailing the COVID-19 protocols for the upcoming school year. I ask that you study it carefully.

If you have questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me or any school staff member. We are here for you and your family.

Sincerely,
Paul Weber
District Administrator
